MAKE A DIFFERENCE

BE A VOLUNTEER AND CHANGE THE LIVES OF THE HOMELESS

VOLUNTEER SIGNUP
For the 2020-2021 Winter Season, volunteers are needed to help provide meals for the homeless.

Due to COVID restrictions, GUEST will be providing motel vouchers for the homeless instead of utilizing church fellowship halls for shelter.  We are looking for churches, businesses, organizations, and individuals that would like to help us support the homeless this winter through meal donations.  Organizations are welcome to sign up for a week at a time.

We ask that you sign up for an available date and note the meal you will provide in the comment field.  All meal donations should be enough for approximately 30 people and delivered to the Day Shelter & Resource Center.  You can call the Day Shelter & Resource Center at 804-792-5046 to verify the number of meals needed.  Our staff will then deliver the meals to the appropriate motels.  We suggest the meals be brought in individually prepackaged to-go containers.  If you are not able to do so, you may bring the meals in disposable trays and our staff can package the meals at the Day Shelter & Resource Center.

If you are not able to donate a meal, but would like to help in other ways...we are also collecting nonperishable foods that can be dropped off at the Day Shelter & Resource Center or you can place an order through the GUEST Amazon Wishlist.

The Day Shelter & Resource Center will be open to the public on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 am to 2 pm.  However, GUEST staff will be available to accept the meals Monday thru Friday from 9 am to 2 pm.

If you have questions, please call 804-792-5046 or email info@guestshelter.org.

JOIN G.U.E.S.T.

The main objective of G.U.E.S.T. is to help diminish the hurt of homelessness. The backbone of this emergency shelter program is the numerous volunteers that give of their time and talents to operate and supervise the shelters.  Another great asset to the shelter program is the religious and community organizations who open their doors to serve homeless families and individuals with the basic human needs of shelter and safety. Guests will experience a spirit of warmth and hospitality. Each guest deserves dignity and respect. Upon entering the program they will be treated as guests, welcomed into a friendly, dignified environment.

HOST AN INFORMATION SESSION

The G.U.E.S.T. Board of Directors are always willing to come and share about the mission of G.U.E.S.T. with any organization interested in learning more about what G.U.E.S.T. is, how G.U.E.S.T. is serving the homeless community, and how your organization might become more involved in supporting G.U.E.S.T.

DONATE NOW

G.U.E.S.T. is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that relies on donations from individuals and community organizations to fund the operations of each shelter season.

Each winter, G.U.E.S.T. provides warm shelter, hot meals, shower facilities, laundry facilities, and resources for the homeless in the Middle Peninsula & Northern Neck area.

The Day Shelter is open year-round to provide shower and laundry facilities, meals, case management and housing services.

All donations go directly to the G.U.E.S.T. operation expenses to provide individualized clients services and shelter. Each gift received helps us to serve the homeless to bring an end to the cycle of poverty and homelessness.
